Managed print in Canary Wharf, the City or the West End involves the same printers as anywhere else, but the buildings, the businesses and the logistics are different. Getting a machine into a tower on a managed estate, meeting a law firm’s confidentiality requirements or installing in a listed Mayfair townhouse all need some planning.
Scriptum is based at Canary Wharf, and our London engineering team works across Central London every day, spreading out to cover the M25 region. This guide sets out what to plan for in each part of Central London, so you can ask the right questions whichever supplier you use. If your business is in outer London or around the M25, see our guide to managed print services across London and the M25.

Managed print in Canary Wharf (E14)

Canary Wharf is home ground for us. The estate is largely made up of large, professionally managed buildings, and that shapes how print is delivered:
- Deliveries must be planned. Managed estates typically require vehicles and deliveries to be booked in advance, with risk assessments, method statements (RAMS) and insurance details. Engineers may need to be pre-registered with building security. A supplier unfamiliar with the process can lose a day at the loading bay.
- Information security is non-negotiable. Many Canary Wharf occupiers are regulated financial businesses. Expect questions about secure print release, user authentication, encrypted storage, firmware patching and certified data wipe at end of life. Our guide to printers for financial services covers these in detail.
- Fleets are often larger and spread across floors. Standardising on one or two models, monitoring them remotely and placing devices sensibly by floor reduces cost and keeps toner and service simple.
Being based at Canary Wharf means our team knows the estate’s processes and can reach most buildings quickly.
Managed print in the City of London (EC1-EC4, E1)
The Square Mile mixes modern towers with older buildings in tight streets. For managed print, that means:
- Loading bays and timing. Many City buildings have shared loading bays with booked slots, and some only allow installs early in the morning or after hours. Plan installations and machine swaps around these.
- Confidentiality. Insurance, legal and financial businesses need to know that documents only print for the person who sent them and that every print, copy and scan can be audited. Secure pull printing is the standard answer.
- Hybrid volumes. Many City firms now print far less than they did, but have agreements written for full-time office occupancy. Moving to fewer, better-placed machines and removing outdated minimum volumes is often the quickest saving.
Law firms around the City, Holborn and Chancery Lane will find our printers for law firms guide useful, and accountants should see printers for accountancy firms.
Managed print in the West End (W1, WC1, WC2)

The West End is more varied: Mayfair townhouses, Soho media offices, Fitzrovia agencies and large modern schemes around Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road.
- Older and listed buildings. Narrow staircases, small lifts and heritage restrictions affect which machine fits and how it gets in. Measure lift cars, doorways and turns before choosing a floor-standing A3 machine with a finisher; a more compact model such as the Konica Minolta bizhub C268i can solve the problem.
- Colour matters. Agencies, property firms and fashion businesses often judge printers on colour output. Ask for samples of your own work and read our guide to why screen colours don’t match prints.
- Discretion. Family offices and hedge funds in Mayfair and St James’s often want a small, quiet, secure setup with minimal disruption to install and service. See printers for financial services and, for architects in Clerkenwell and the West End, printers for architects.
SW1, N1, NW1 and SE1
Westminster and Victoria (SW1) have a high concentration of membership bodies, public affairs consultancies and professional firms, many in buildings with strict security procedures. Allow time for engineer access arrangements and be clear about how scanned and stored documents are handled.
Islington and King’s Cross (N1), and Camden and Euston (NW1) include many growing businesses and serviced or flexible offices. Flexibility often matters more than the lowest possible price: shorter terms, the ability to add or move a device and secure printing on shared networks. Our A3 photocopier rental and leasing guide covers flexible options, including direct rental of refurbished Xerox AltaLink machines without third-party finance.
South Bank, Southwark and London Bridge (SE1) mix modern towers and converted buildings with a large share of agencies and professional services. As in the City, plan deliveries around building rules and size the fleet for today’s office occupancy.
